Community Arts Endowment Fund

Description:

All Grant Requests must be submitted to the Community Foundation by 5:00 p.m. PACIFIC TIME on the day of the deadline.


General Information

 
Grants are awarded to:  

  1. Nonprofit organizations with tax exempt status under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, 
  2. public schools,
  3. other public organizations, and
  4. individual artists.
Please note:  For organizations applying as 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, the Community Foundation will search the IRS database to confirm current status.  Organizations whose 501(c)(3) status isn’t current will not be eligible for funding consideration. 

Grant Amounts:
Minimum grant amount of $500 and up to $2,500.

About the Community Arts Endowment Fund and this Grant Program

The Shasta Regional Community Foundation is a nonprofit, public charity serving the people of Shasta and Siskiyou counties. Established in 2000 by a group of dedicated community volunteers, the Community Foundation helps people achieve their charitable goals.  In partnership with our generous donors, we are building resources that will serve our communities now and in the future.

The Community Foundation created the Community Arts Endowment Fund with support from many generous donors during the Shasta-Siskiyou ARTicipate campaign. This Fund was established to support the presentation and creation of pieces of new work by artists and arts organizations and will ensure the arts communities in Shasta and Siskiyou County flourish forever.


Eligibility Criteria

 
  • The Fund awards grants primarily for the creation and presentation of new work by artists and arts organizations in Shasta and Siskiyou counties. Fields supported by these grants may include but are not limited to: dance, theater, music, writing, sculpture, painting, photography, film, and graphic design.
  • Grants are not awarded to or for:
  • Budget deficits 
  • Endowment funds or annual fund drives
  • Land purchase
  • Reimbursement of completed projects and/or events that occur before grants are awarded (August 2017)
·  Projects for which grant is being sought must be completed within 12 months of grant receipt.

Grant Proposal Components


The following information will be requested during the application process:

  • Proposal Narrative
  • Background Information.  Please provide more information about yourself as the applicant. If you are an organization, explain the history and purpose of the organization. Include a discussion of recent achievements and key challenges. If you are an individual artist, provide a personal statement including background information and your experience involving your craft.
  • Request. Amount of money requested and specific use.
  • Statement of Need. Need for project and difference you hope it will make.
  • Project timeline & completion date.  Projects should be completed within 12 mo. of grant receipt.
  • Location. Where the completed project will reside, be displayed, or shared.
  • Sustainability. Plan for supporting the project after grant funds have been expended, especially reference ongoing maintenance if applicable.
  • Project budget (listing all anticipated project funds & services).
  • List of board members, affiliations and phone numbers – if applicable. If you are an individual artist, please provide names and contact information for two references with whom you've worked.
  • For schools & other public entities, a copy of departmental budget (1-2 page summary) – if applicable
  • For nonprofit agencies, a copy of the current income & expense statement and balance sheet (only).  Please note, this is a request for financial report information, not a request for organizational budget.  If current financial statements cover less than 6 months, please submit a copy of current statements plus year-end statement for the previous year.  Please include on the financial reports reference to the time period covered by the report. – if applicable
  • Sample(s) of work: 1-2 samples of previous, similar work. For those samples that are accessible online, include links within a document and upload that document to fulfill this requirement. If items are physical in nature, please submit photos online.
  • Copies of 1-2 recent external communications about your organization or your work as an artist  
  • Optional: 1-2 related photos (only if they help you describe the proposal)
  • Please do not submit additional materials, e.g. IRS determination letters, letters of support, more than 2 photos or 2 external communications, copies of audits, copies of catalogue pages or quotes.  If you’ve done pricing research (catalogues or quotes) it is helpful for us to know that within the project narrative or project budget.  If we need additional information, we will request it. 

Proposal Submission and Review


All grant requests must be submitted online to the Community Foundation by 5:00 p.m. PACIFIC TIME on the day of the deadline utilizing the online application materials.

The review process may include a site visit, conducted by the review committee, and Community Foundation staff. Grant award notification will occur approximately 10 – 12 weeks from the proposal deadline.
